A-List-Formula-Autism-tm

The A-List Formula™ has been designed as a complete framework for understanding autism.

It encompasses a robust toolkit to transform the lives of those with autism, their caretakers and their families.

Unlike other models, it understands the heightened sensitivities, awareness, struggles, and brilliance in a way you have always instinctively known, yet never dared hope.

THE DEEPER THE ROOTS, THE GREATER THE FRUIT

THE DEEPER THE ROOTS, THE GREATER THE FRUIT

THE 3 R'S

The A-List Formula™ is best illustrated in a tree. The tree represents how the individual with autism can be uniquely understood and encouraged to flourish.

Rather than focusing on a disorder, the 3 R’s illustrate how unique individuals need individualized and often innovative settings, as well as a true understanding and strong therapeutic relationship to blossom.

A positive and complete framework that supports the whole family as well as the person with autism, providing educators and caregivers with informed, structured solutions is the core of this model.

REGULATE

The regulating roots are home to Super Powers! These are the critical ways the individual with autism learns to regulate, ground, and find peace, relief, and calm.

GRIT & GROUNDING

Finding what regulates and implementing this daily is a necessity (not a luxury) for those with autism.

EXPLORE DEEPER

  • This is where we fill up, become whole, breathe, find relief, calm, and restore. We become free.
  • It’s everything to us to have relief from the overwhelm. This time and these activities where we fill up is what makes us truly happy in our souls.
  • Everybody’s different. Some fill up with music, others with nature, exercise, art, math, time alone, etc.
  • When we’re grounded, everything becomes easier and life is happy and creative.
  • Without regulating we fall into chaos, misery, depression, and lose our sense of self extremely quickly.
  • Regulating is a necessity, not a luxury. Please know how important this is and help us!
  • Know the importance of grounding and ensure environment and activities include it.
  • Once you find the unique combination for regulating, you’ll have calm. So keep going until you find it.
  • It’s vital to incorporate grounding techniques into daily life and allow plenty of time.
  • Without these in place there’s chaos and disruption. Regulating and grounding has to take priority.
  • Experiment - try out new things, people, places, environments. Take time to observe.
  • Some behaviors seem odd. Know the difference between anxiety and healthy regulating.
  • It’s vital you fill up. Women and caregivers often forget. You also need relief and wholeness.
  • You need to shine your own light, be calm and a role model for others. You’re important too.
  • Seek what fills you. Take time. Sit with the stillness. Live for joy. Find your passion.
  • When you’re full, you have patience for the monumental task of living with autism.
  • When you’re empty it’s easy to get sick, tired, irritable, resentful and anxious.
  • What do you do when you lose all track of time? What brings you peace? Do it!

RESTORE

We need to RESTORE THE CORE

There are 2 types of challenges within the trunk:

Skye Baloo Carnegie, ADHD, Autism, HSP, A-List Formula

SENSITIVITY CHALLENGES

Due to innate sensitivities and overwhelm, (eg. noise, touch). These innate sensitivities can be accepted, accommodated and alleviated.

Skye Baloo Carnegie, ADHD, Autism, HSP, A-List Formula

SOCIETY CHALLENGES

As a result of growing up in a hostile environment where one is isolated,  etc. These challenges are external, can be overcome, and shouldn’t be confused with struggles due to innate sensitivities.

EXPLORE DEEPER

  • We deal with our sensitivities, overwhelm, AND society so we’re actually extremely brave.
  • When you give us kindness, patience, understanding and the time, it means the world to us.
  • We become more ‘normal’ when we’re accepted instead of forced to be ‘normal’. We calm down then.
  • Small changes make a big difference; earplugs, relaxed environments, your energy being calm.
  • When our sensitivities are ignored, we feel out of control, afraid, full of fear and self-loathing.
  • It helps that you keep learning what we’re sensitive to and find new ways to help us.
  • Let them know that sensitivities are normal and are to be expected throughout their life.
  • The care and confidence they learn with you will inspire others to treat them well, and change their lives.
  • See the world through their eyes and their sensitivities. Accept. Accommodate. Alleviate.
  • Small accommodations can make a huge difference. Be aware of both triggers and solutions.
  • Understanding reduces fear, isolation, and increases a sense of joy, self, and belonging.
  • Advocate confidently. They’re bravely facing overwhelm and society. They need you!
  • We all have sensitivities and struggles. Identifying yours will help both you and your family.
  • As you accept, love and help yourself, you’re able to understand and help others more. Big win.
  • Take time and put your own oxygen mask on first. It isn’t selfish. It’s how you give more.
  • Stop ignoring parts of you that need to be heard. You’ll have more calm, control, joy.
  • Caring for YOU, too, changes depression, anxiety and overwhelm into clarity, calm, and relief.
  • Experiment. Become self-aware. Rest. Sit with yourself for at least 5 mins a day.

RADIATE

The blossom radiating from the tree is due to 3 things:

Skye Baloo Carnegie, ADHD, Autism, HSP, A-List Formula

PASSIONATE PETALS

Helping those with autism discover their passions, which brings them joy and wonder. It’s different from regulating or contribution.

Skye Baloo Carnegie, ADHD, Autism, HSP, A-List Formula

CREATION'S CONTRIBUTION

Often known as vision or one's life purpose. Those with autism have this essence running through their veins. It’s vital they step into their gifts and talents rather than assume menial roles which break their spirit. Interestingly, lots of world-changers are on the spectrum and why many books written by children with autism say that 'they are here to show the rest of us the way home'.

BRANCHES OF BRILLIANCE

Represent the many gifts, talents, and islands of genius in those with autism. From the abilities to play music or draw without being taught to magnificent memories or aptitude for math, etc.

  • Many world-changers are on the spectrum. Nurture us so we live, give and thrive.
  • This is the exciting part where heightened sensitivities give way to areas of brilliance.
  • By understanding positives as well as the challenges, you understand the whole person.
  • When regulated and calm, talents and passion flow. Avoid overwhelm.
  • A sense of purpose, peace and confidence follow the discovery of areas of brilliance and passions.
