Loneliness and the feeling of being unwanted is the most terrible poverty” - Mother Teresa

WHAT IT IS, AND WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU HAVE ADHD:

  • Maybe you’re feeling down.
  • Maybe you want to give up.
  • Often, you hope that things will magically change.
  • You may not know the way out…. but you WILL find the solutions here, keep strong, and keep going!
  • Chances are that you know your life has a big purpose, but you don’t know how to make it happen. Our mission is to help you be all that you can be.
  • You may have had enough of things being constantly hard.
  • Things DO affect people with ADHD deeply. We are sensitive people.
  • Depression rarely comes alone. It arrives complete with anxiety, eating disorders, OCD, etc. You’ll discover that most of these come from the same place. You’re not a total mess; they’re often related to you not feeling in control and not having a good sense of identity. That changes here!
  • You have found that most people don’t understand (especially if they don’t have ADHD themselves).

WHY PEOPLE WITH ADHD GET DEPRESSED

Obviously, there are a million reasons anyone gets depressed, but with ADHD there are some……

Think about it, what is depression?

Pressed down – crushed spirit – unable to be you.

Sh*t happens.

People leave. Sometimes people don’t care. Sometimes people don’t know how to care.

Life’s hard. Circumstances. Finances. Illness. They can be hard, but these problems aren’t your fault. They happen to everyone, ADHD, or not.

They hurt more when you have ADHD because you’re extra sensitive.

Relationships with people are hard.

Not having lots of close friends is difficult (because people don’t ‘get’ you or you find them boring!)

When you feel socially awkward people sense it, and use you as a scapegoat, etc.

Perhaps, you lack a sense of identity.

Everything here is about helping you get to know yourself, helping you become as popular as you want to be, and having a happy life.

It’s likely:
* You’re more sensitive than other people
* You think differently
* You say things differently
* You see things differently

People will target you, put you down, leave you out

It can feel impossible to fit in. But it IS POSSIBLE! (Even the word ‘impossible’ says, ‘I’m possible!’)

HOW TO GET THROUGH THIS AND LIVE YOUR LIFE

Get to know yourself.

Don’t look at yourself as a ball of dysfunction. Your gifts and talents, beautiful sensitivity, goodness, drive, and survival instincts come FIRST! We can sort the struggle out; it’s NOT the sum of who you are.

It’s likely:
* You’re more sensitive than other people
* You think differently
* You say things differently
* You see things differently

People will target you, put you down, leave you out

It can feel impossible to fit in. But it IS POSSIBLE! (Even the word ‘impossible’ says, ‘I’m possible!’)

Divide your problems up.

See which ones happen to everyone, ‘normal’ problems (we’ll find the ways of dealing with these too).

See which are down to your ADHD (your extra sensitive brain shuts down at times).

Having clarity between the two makes them much easier to handle.

Then we can solve both.

Decide what you want.

People with ADHD are often so busy surviving that they don’t make a vision for their lives.

Without a vision it’s hard to make your dreams come true.

See yourself as unique(you are!)

Know you’re ok, great even!

Sure, you may be depressed, but the sensitivity that makes for the struggles is also the foundation of your brilliance, uniqueness, creativity. I’ve never seen it any other way.

Attract what you want.

To attract what you want, you must do/ be it yourself.

Example: if you want to be valued, you must value yourself first, otherwise, you’ll find you search for OTHER people to value you, and by doing this, you give away your power.

Often, we give our power to people who aren’t capable/ worth giving our power to. They are incapable of loving us as we need. (Actually, no one can meet all your needs, and no one CAN save you, but you).

You might say, ‘REALLY?... You’re talking to a depressed person here, and you’re asking me to value me?’

I know, I hear you, I’ve been there…….

You DO have to do this (and it’s not that terrible), but here’s another way for now:

LIST 3 COOL THINGS ABOUT YOU:

If you can’t think of anything, ask others to tell you 3 brilliant things about you (tell them it’s your homework!)

Instead of seeing yourself with a disorder, or a screw-up, see yourself as amazing (with struggles like anyone). This different way of seeing has the power to change everything.

When you’re able to be you, it gets better.
